Staples' essay
"They were tougher than we were, more ruthless," (from Norman Podhoretz "My Negro Problem-And Ours") is a quote that Staples used as evidence in his essay to show that black men get sterotyped often for being a threat to many civilians or as muggers. He Ties this quote into his own text by stating how "black men have a firm place in New York mugging literature" and then explains how Podhoretz discusses growing up in fear of black males. I would have reccommended adding more quotes from this piece into this essay would have supported his statemnets of being sterotyped as a mugger.
